• Amazing flight on United Boeing 777-200ER Houston to Amsterdam + Leiden & Rotterdam

Video from my flight from Houston George Bush intercontinental Airport IAH to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport AMS on a United Boeing 777-200ER. This plane, with registration N77014 is equipped with GE90-92B engines and was originally delivered to Continental Airlines in 1999, which was acquired some years ago by United. I included a picture of a Lufthansa A380 instead of the 777 because I couldn’t get an acceptable shot and this one looks nicer  The reason of this trip was to take a training at the IATA Training Center in Lijnden, near Amsterdam, on Airline Leading Practices and Cost Reduction Strategies. Given that I have some good friends in Leiden, I took advantage also to stay a few more days there. The route reached the Northeast of the US, Southeast of Canada (close to Bangor, Gander ...

This is my first flight ever on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim (Galeao) Airport (GIG) to Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH). The plane was N20904, delivered to United in 2012 and my seat was 24A. I really liked the 787-8. I've waited a long time to fly on one. Now I still have to fly on the 787-9, A350, A380 and A320Neo. As you may recall, when they first started to talk about the 787 (early 2000s), it was called 7E7 (E for efficient). The first design resembled a dolphin. At that time I provided a lot of data in order to improve the customer experience (around 2002-2003). The 787 is a revolutionary aircraft. It uses a much higher proportion of composite materials than other airplanes. The windows are larger, there are no window shades and there is more ...

HOUSTON — A United Airlines flight attendant deliberately deployed the emergency evacuation slide after a flight from Sacramento, California, landed at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport on Monday, April 4. According to an United Airlines representative, the incident occurred around noon after Flight 1246 landed in Houston. The flight attendant deployed the evacuation slide when the aircraft reached Gate C43 and came to a full stop. The attendant threw her bag down the slide before jumping out shortly after. Neither police nor the airline have revealed why the attendant evacuated the flight. After sliding down the chute, the unidentified attendant took a few steps before grabbing her bag and walking away. Meanwhile, in the back of the plane, a man was having trouble breathing and...

Hey there everybody! Here's a bit of a throwback video from my trip to Detroit in July 2016! If you remember, my flight from DTW to ATL the day before this video was diverted to GSP due to inclement weather, which caused me to miss my connecting flight to San Antonio. The next day, I was booked on an itinerary from ATL to SAT through TPA, but the weather from the previous night foiled me again and delayed the ATL-TPA leg by 2 hours. Thus, I talked to a gate agent and got a new routing to SAT through HOU, leaving around the same time. So I scarfed down some Chick-Fil-A and took this little video here. Enjoy!! The route reached the Northeast of the US, Southeast of Canada (close to Bangor, Gander and Halifax) and later we crossed the Atlantic and flew above Ireland and England before approaching Amsterdam. Total flight time: 8:26 hours As I mentioned in the previous video, my trip was from Sao Paulo to Amsterdam. The fact that I connected through Houston and had an 11hr layover was due to buying the trip too close to the departure date and not willing to pay a fortune. This routing was way cheaper than a direct flight to AMS. I could use the extra time to complete some work and also took a rest and had some great meals at the American Express Centurion Lounge at IAH. Comparing with the last time that I flew United, almost 3 years before, they have improved their in-flight service. On this trip I had four excellent and timely flights with them. We flew above New York. The city and the Brooklyn Bridge were clearly visible, but unfortunately it was too dark for the camera and I decided to omit that footage. United still keeps the 3-3-3 layout in coach on (some) of their 777s. According to Seatguru.com they have 5 different configurations for the 777-200 and one for the 777-300ER. Should the pilot need to dump fuel (or jettison), the fuel would go out through that tube (shown in the video in 11:23. Only some large planes that fly long haul routes are equipped with these tubes. Smaller planes that don't have this capability would be required to fly in circles to waste fuel. The orange lights are greenhouses. A lot of them can be seen during the approach. I stayed at the New West Inn hotel in Amsterdam, which was conveniently located close to Lijnden, where I was taking the IATA Training. This hotel was much cheaper than the recommended one, and was also located in an area with shops and restaurants. I visited later the cities of Leiden, where many people that work at the ESA (European Space Agency) and NATA live and also Rotterdam. The video includes some of the following stages. Boarding Engine start up Takeoff Inflight service Approach Landing New West Inn Hotel IATA Training Center in Lijnden Amsterdam Christmas Concert in Amsterdam Leiden Floating market and herring cleaning Bike storage in Leiden Ceviche y Maas Restaurant In Rotterdam Train Station in Leiden Equipment: Boeing 777-200ER Reg. I’ve just spent the last of my Avios on a Cathay Pacific First Class ultra long haul between Hong Kong and JFK, and that will mark the end of my relationship with BA and Avios. With a population of 56,483 inhabitants (2016) in an area of 2,166,086 sq km, this is the least densely populated country in the world. A landing on Runway 22 was required because of MEL operational requirements. The captain provided a statement to NTSB investigators that he had made a stabilized flaps 40 final approach with a normal landing in the target area. After touchdown, he took the thrust levers to idle, rapidly brought the speed brake to the full-up detent, employed reverse thrust, and applied manual wheel braking. Both flight crew members reported they thought the tires blew soon after touchdown. After the airplane came to a stop, the crew received confirmation of fire and smoke from the control tower and, were told that aircraft rescue fire fighting (ARFF) units were en route. Other aircraft also confirmed the presence of fire and smoke. The captain conferred with the first officer and the flight attendants, and ordered an emergency evacuation from the left side doors. The flight attendants opened only the forward entry door and the aft entry door on the left side of the airplane. The associated emergency slides inflated. The ARFF units arrived and began to extinguish the fire as passengers were evacuating down the slides. After all 48 passengers, including one lap child, had exited from the airplane, two flight attendants evacuated down the slides and began to gather the passengers, direct them away from the airplane, and screen for injuries. The remaining crewmembers made a sweep through the cabin to confirm no one was left on-board and then also evacuated down the slides. All passengers and all crewmembers successfully exited the airplane 57 seconds after the evacuation began. ARFF units were able to knock down the fire approximately 32 seconds after the emergency evacuation began. The ARFF commander declared that the fire was out four minutes later. After an initial on-scene triage by emergency medical services, the passengers and crew were bused to the airport terminal. All four main landing gear tires, wheels and brake assemblies were examined at the Honeywell facility in South Bend, Indiana. No pre-event anomalies in the tires, wheels, or brakes were discovered that would have prevented normal operations. The anti-skid system is designed to provide touchdown protection during the air-to-ground transition. Touchdown protection prevents brake application prior to touchdown and wheel spin-up. With the touchdown protection feature operative, brake pressure can reach the brakes only 3 seconds after the air-ground switch logic indicates ground, or once each wheel has spun up to a velocity of 60 knots. The touchdown protection is not available when the anti-skid system is in the off position or is not operative, as was the case for this flight. If you are surprised by the existence of a minimum equipment list (a list of things which can be broken on a plane without grounding it) and you are in the mood for more surprises, I recommend Googling "speed tape." (Then look carefully at the skin of the next commercial aircraft you travel on.)

The windows are larger, there are no window shades and there is more humidity and higher cabin pressure that in other aircraft. United has a very diversified fleet. They leave almost no gap in the capacity and range from the Q200 to the 747-400. United service was OK. Some days late, exactly the day when I was returning from this trip, the renowned incident with the passenger that was dragged off a plane occurred. Besides the plane, in the video you will see the Plaza Premium Lounge at Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport and the American Express centurion Lounge at Houston Airport. Both are great and provide a nice environment to relax, work, eat or take a shower before or in between flights. Equipment: Boeing 787-8 Reg. Meanwhile, in the back of the plane, a man was having trouble breathing and needed to be escorted off the aircraft. “When we landed we were told to stay in our seats as deplaning would take a bit longer,” Jonah Vella, a passenger who was connecting through Houston to Munich while traveling for his video blog on YouTube, told KPRC. “Everything seemed to be pretty standard.” The move is reminiscent of an incident in 2010 when JetBlue attendant Steven Slater dramatically quit his job after arguing with a passenger and fled via the plane’s emergency exit slide. The United Airlines aircraft is back in service, but the flight attendant remains off duty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Enjoy!! Airline: Southwest Airlines, WN Flight: WN1971 Aircraft: N384SW Model: Boeing 737-300 Delivered: May 1994 Seat: 18F Airport: Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Intl. Airport, Georgia, ATL Destination: William P. Hobby Airport, Texas, HOU

Kia ora y'all and welcome on board the inaugural Air New Zealand flight from Auckland to Houston on a Boeing 777-200ER. It was a festive atmosphere from in the lounge well before departure until coming through the arrivals hall after arrival. All sorts of little things connecting the two cultures along the way; it was tons of fun. The flight is the longest in the Air New Zealand route network (return trip is slightly slower flight time due to winds).

Gemini 8 was the sixth manned spaceflight in NASA's Gemini program. The mission conducted the first docking of two spacecraft in orbit, but suffered the first critical in-space system failure of a U.S. spacecraft which threatened the lives of the astronauts and required immediate abort of the mission. The crew was returned to Earth safely.
